Italian text Dissi a l'amata mia, lucida stella Che più d'ogn' altra luce, Ed al mio cor adduce Fiamme, strali e catene, Ch'ogn'hor mi danno pene: "Deh! morirò, cor mio. Sì, morirai, ma non per mio desio."

German translation Ich sagte zu meinem geliebten klaren Stern, daß er mehr als alle anderen leuchte und meinem Herzen zufüge Flammen, Strahlen und Ketten, die mir alle Zeit Qualen bringen. Ach, ich werde sterben, mein Herz, auch du wirst sterben, aber nicht für mich, Geliebte. Translation by Peter Rottländer
