Dominik Giesen was born in 1994 in Wesel. He gained his first musical experience at the piano in his early childhood. At age 11, he took the first piano lessons with Mr. Wulff-Dieter Irmscher in Wesel and three years later organ lessons with Domkantor Ansgar Schlei. As part of the C-training for church musicians Dominik Giesen received organ and choral conducting lessons from 2011 - 2013 at the Xanten Cathedral Choir Wolfgang Schwering.

After completing a bachelor's degree in Catholic church music, Dominik Giesen is now studying for a master's degree at the Musikhochschule Köln u.A. with cathedral organist Prof. Dr. Winfried Bönig and Prof. Reiner Schuhenn. Since October 2017, he is also studying music theory and education there with Prof. Wolfram Breuer.

From October 2012 to September 2018 Dominik Giesen was organist and choirmaster of the cath. Parish of St. Mary of the Assumption, Marienthal. Since October 2018 he is organist in Cologne-Bickendorf. At the end of September 2018 he took over the choral conducting of the Städtische Musikverein Wesel e.V ..

In master classes for organ with Daniel Roth (St. Sulpice, Paris), Prof. Wolfgang Zerer, Prof. Guy Bovet (Switzerland), Prof. Christoph Bossert (Würzburg), Giesen was able to further expand his musical skills.

As an active participant in the choral conducting masterclass with Stephen Layton and the Trinity College Choir Cambridge, he worked with one of the world's best choirs.

In addition to his student commitments Giesen is also active as a composer, publications on Carus for the new "Gotteslob" and premieres u.A. through the University Choir of the Cologne University of Music and the Figural Choir Bonn under the direction of Prof. Reiner Schuhenn show his compositional success.

In 2017, 2018 and 2019 he was invited as an active participant to the Master Class choir composition of the ACV, Archdiocese of Cologne and the University of Music and Dance Cologne. In this context, he was able to discuss his compositions with the most renowned composers such as Rihards Dubra (Latvia), Enjott Schneider (Germany) and most recently Eriks Esensvalds (Latvia).
