Latin text Elísabeth Zacharíae mágnum vírum génuit, Joánnem Baptístam, praecursórem Dómini. Fúit hómo mísus a Déo, cúi nómen érat Joánnes, ut testimónium perhíberet de lúmine. Sáncte Joánnes, óra pro nóbis. Inter nátos mulíerum, non surréxit májor Joánne Baptísta, qui víam Dómino praeparávit in erémo. Joánnes est nómen éjus. Vínum et síceram non bíbet, et in nativitáte éjus múlti gaudébunt. Sáncte Joánnes, óra pro nóbis.

English translation Elizabeth, wife of Zechariah, bore a great man, John the Baptist, the forerunner of The Lord. He was a man sent by God, whose name was John, that he might present testimony of the light. Holy John, pray for us. Among those born of women, there has not arisen a greater than John the Baptist, who prepared the way of the Lord in the wilderness. John is his name. He will drink no wine or strong drink, and at his birth many will rejoice. Holy John, pray for us.
