We've hunted the fox through the flower of the day,
View! View! and Halloo!
Pink-coated, top-hatted, away! Well away!
View! View! and Halloo!
Far over the moors where the cloud shadows sweep,
Far over the hills that drop down to the deep,
Away! Well away! Wind your horn to the sky.
Now after him! After him! Hounds in full cry.

We've galloped through woodlands of beeches and pine,
View! View! and Halloo!
Through the sun and the clouds, the wet and the fine,
View! View! and Halloo!
As strong as the eagle and gay as the lark,
From dawning till noonday, through twilight to dark,
Away! Well away! Wind your horn to the sky.
Now after him! After him! Hounds in full cry.

The little red fox with his red bushy tail,
View! View! and Halloo!
Has led us a gallop up hill and down dale,
View! View! and Halloo!
As swift as a bird or a leaf tempest-blown,
He's over the edge of the world, lost and flown.
Away! Well away! Wind your horn to the sky.
Now after him! After him! Hounds in full cry.

Now we are the fools and the foiled in the chase,
View! View! and Halloo!
The little red fox set us too hard a pace,
View! View! and Halloo!
But are we downhearted? No! Drink to the day
We'll once more be after him. Way! Well away!
Away! Well away! Wind your horn to the sky.
Now after him! After him! Hounds in full cry.
