Biography
Marson was born in Worcester. He was admitted a student of Trinity College, Cambridge, in 1595 and graduated MusB in 1598. By Christmas of that year he was being paid as master of the choristers at Canterbury Cathedral and was confirmed in that position in 1603 'in consideration of his good and faithful service both in teaching the boys and in playing the organ'. In 1604 he was ordained a priest in London and combined his organist post with that of a minor canon in the cathedral. From 1607 he was rector of St Mary Magdalen, Canterbury, a post he held until shortly before his death.
