Biography: Giovanni Antonio Ricieri ( Venice, Veneto, 5 November of 1679 - Bologna, Emilia-Romagna, 1 May of 1746 ) was a castrato and Italian composer.
One of his professors was Domenico Freschi, [1] and he was the teacher of Padre Martini, and of Angelo Caroli ; [2] In 1701 he was a soprano at San Petronio de Bologna and a member of the Philharmonic Academy. From 1722 to 1726 he was director of the chapel of a Polish nobleman: in 1732 he became a Franciscan novice and returned to Bologna, after having lived in various places.
He was the author of several oratorios:
- La Nascita di Gesù (1713);
- The temptation of disbelief (1714);
- The human heart (1716);
- The sacrifice of Isaac (1738).
