Biography
Gustav Mehner was born and raised in Germany. He was educated in Dresden and studied organ with master teachers throughout the continent. He was Professor in the Royal Conservatory of Music, Dresden, before emigrating to the U.S. and becoming Professor of Pipe-Organ, Piano and Harmony at Grove City College in Pennsylvania. His compositions include two operas, an organ sonata, and a number of compositions for piano and voice. He was the first winner of the Phi Mu Alpha Composition Contest in 1912.
