Biography

Hanß Jochim Quantz was born near Göttingen, moving to Dresden in 1716 and studying with Jan Dismas Zelenka. After meeting the future Frederick the Great in 1722 Quantz repeatedly visited Berlin, taking up residence in 1741, one year after Frederick II was crowned.
