Description: This is a reconstruction (in red) of the fragmentary piece in the Eton Choirbook where the Treble, Countertenor and first Tenor parts are missing. However, the Tenor can be reconstructed without too much difficulty: like many of the larger scale pieces in 'Eton' it probably employed two cantus firmi. These are derived from the faburden: Tone IV in Tenor2 is original but it appears that as a compositional tour-de-force Wylkynson added a second cantus firmus - from Tone V - in Tenor1. Equally unusually, Wylkynson appears to continue the cantus firm in some of the reduced-voice sections. With gratitude to Professor Magnus Williamson for his valuable advice. This is a revised and finalised version.
