French text Malade si fut ma mignonne Quelque iour & ie luy disoye Que vous sert ce quon vous ordonne Fault que vostre medecin soye Si vous enseigneray la voye pour tost guarir sans grand mistere Il ne vous fault qung bon clistere Tel que le vous prepareray Et si seray lapoticaire Car moy mesmes le bailleray.

French text modernized Malade si fut ma mignonne Quelque jour et je lui disaie: "Que vous sers ce qu'on vous ordonne; Faut que votre médecin soie, Si vous enseignerai la voie. Pour tôt guérir sans grand mystère II ne vous faut qu'un bon clystaire, Tel que je vous préparerai; Et si serais l'apothicaire Car moi même le baillerai".

English translation So if my chickabiddy were to get ill anytime I'd say to her: "You'll get what you're prescribed; I'll have to be your doctor If I'm to show the way. For prompt healing without much ceremony You need only a good suppository, Like the one I'll prepare for you; And since I'm to be the pharmacist, Then I'll administer it myself". (trans.
