Description: For Sundays at Compline, and the Canticle of Simeon. Luke 2:29-32. Simeon, who has been told by the Holy Spirit that he would not die before seeing the Lord's Christ, is in the temple when Jesus is brought in for the presentation. He takes the baby in his arms, blesses God and speaks these words.

Latin text Nunc dimíttis sérvum túum, Dómine, Secúndum vérbum tuum in páce: Quía vidérunt óculi méi salutáre túum, Quod parásti ánte fáciem ómnium populórum: Lúmen ad revelatiónem géntium, Et glóriam plébis túae Israel. Glória Pátri, et Fílio, et Spirítui Sáncto. Sícut érat in princípio, et nunc, et sémper, et in saécula saeculórum. Amen.

English translation "Now you let your servant depart, Lord, According to your word, in peace; For my eyes have seen your salvation, Which you have prepared in the presence of all peoples, A light for revelation to the Gentiles, And glory to your people Israel." Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit. As it was in the beginning, and now, and forever, and for ages of ages. Amen.
