Original text and translations
Latin text
O mysterium inefabile,
O caritatis sacramentum admirabile,
O bonitatis prodigium,
O pietatis miraculum.
Hic est panis vita vitæ,
Hic est cibus animæ.
Ibi caro confert semen gratiæ,
Ibi sanguis donat pignus gloriæ.
O amor, O pietas,
O epularum jucunditas,
O convivarum felicitas.
English text
O ineffable mystery,
O wonderful sacrament of charity,
O wonder of goodness,
O miracle of mercy.
Here is the bread of life
Here is food for the soul.
There the flesh contributes the seed of grace,
There the blood gives a pledge of glory.
O love, O mercy,
O the delight of feasts,
O the happiness of the guests.
