Original text and translations

German.png German text

Paule, lieber Stallbruder mein,
wisch einmal herum,
lass dir das Glas befohlen sein.
Wisch…
Rum, rum, wiederum,
Ich bitt dich alle Tag darum:
wisch...

English.png English translation

Paul, my dear comrade,
just wipe around / just turn around,1
may this glass be given to you.

round, round again,
I beg you every day:

He set the (little) glass to his mouth,
he drank it out down to the ground.

He has done his work correctly,
his neighbour shall drinkt to him the same way.

1 Wischen may have the meaning of to wipe (the glass? his mouth?) or of a quick movement
