Description: Psalm 121 has been set to music by many composers (Schubert, Mendelssohn). Sometimes also in the official French version (Manneke), as published as by Louis Segond (LSG). Here I also chose the French version for this work. From the complete French text, which is listed below with Dutch translation, I have selected a few inspiring phrases.

The work evolves from anxious awaiting the rescue by the Eternal to a steady trust therein.

Il gardera ton âme;

L'Éternel gardera ton départ et ton arrivé,
Dès maintenant et à jamais.

Je lève mes yeux vers les montagnes,
Le secours me vient de l’Éternel.

vanwaar mijn hulp komen zal.

Mijn hulp is van de Heer,
Die hemel en aarde gemaakt heeft.

De Heer zal u bewaren van alle kwaad;
uw ziel zal Hij bewaren.
