Quando fra bianche perle al canto snoda,
La dolce lingua, E co'l soave fiato
Move i Rubini la mia donna e grato,
Suono all'orecchie fa ch'io sent'et oda,

E che per far ch'interament'io goda,
Amor del ben che mi puo far beato,
Vuol ch'io miri presente il viso ornato,
Degno d'altero stil d'eterna loda.

Sentomi aprirsi tutto il lato manco,
E'l cor uscir ne per dolcezza,
E in mezo ond'escie, Porsi si divin concento,

Quinci raro dal ben per cui mi (mai?) stanco,
Non son d'amar io benedico il Rezzo,
E l'aura onde mi vien tanto contento.

When between white pearls
my lady looses her sweet tongue in song,
and with gentle breath moves her ruby lips
she makes a delicious sound to my ears, which I hear and listen to;

and when, to make my enjoyment complete,
Love wishes that I may actually gaze upon the richly beautiful face
of her who can make me blessed,
a face worthy of eternal praise, of elevated style,

then I feel my breast open completely,
and my heart depart from it out of sweetness
and such a divine sound fill its place.

Therefore, deprived of the good because of which I never tire
of Love, I bless the breeze
and the air itself, that brings me such contentment.
