Original text and translations

Latin.png Latin text

Qui moderatur sermones suos, doctus et prudens est,
et pretiosi spiritus vir eruditus.
Stultus quoque si tacuerit, sapiens reputabitur,
et si compresserit labia sua, intelligens.
(Liber proverbiorum 17;27-28)

Hungarian.png Hungarian translation

Aki visszatartja szavát, az bölcs és értelmes,
az az okos férfi, aki higgadt lelkű.
A balgát is okosnak lehet tartani, amikor hallgat,
és értelmesnek, míg ajkát zárva tartja.

English.png English translation

He that setteth bounds to his words, is knowing and wise:
and the man of understanding is of a precious spirit.
Even a fool, if he will keep silent, shall be counted wise:
and if he close his lips, a man of understanding.
