French text Si iay de moy tant voulu presumer, d'aymer si hault veiullez moy pardonner, dieu des amans, dominant tout le monde. Il ne sen trouve soulz les cieulx la seconde. Par quoy je dis que ne suis a blamer. si iay de moy tant voulu presumer. Modern French Si j'ai tant voulu présumer d'aimer si haut, veuillez me pardonner, dieu des amants, dominant le monde entier. Il ne s'en trouve la seconde sous les cieux. Pourquoi je dis que je ne suis pas à blamer Si j'ai tant voulu présumer de moi.

English translation Forgive me, o lovers' god who rules the earth I have aimed to high in setting my love's goal. Yet none on earth can be found to be more beautiful So I can bu plead innocent for aiming high in setting my love's goal.
