Composer's name

According to this site, Barbigant is a modern corruption of his name. Barbingant's (or Berbingant's) first name is also unknown, as is clear from the entry in Grove Dictionary. As he was often times confused with Jacques Barbireau, people incorrectly started calling him "Jacques" Barbigant (sic). We should change the current name only if another more authoritative source is cited. —Carlos Email.gif 22:48, 21 November 2010 (UTC)

can the zip live on the page in unzipped versions instead?

Site users may be leery of unzipping a file without knowing what kind of executable might be inside. If the files are not large, they should live in unzipped status, no? Otherwise, I'm thinking the icon should indicate zipped file format and indicate parenthetically the type(s) of files to be found within the zipped file. What do others think? -- Vaarky 06:19, 24 November 2010 (UTC)

Vaarky, in the case of MusicXML files, we've been explicitly requesting that they be uploaded in a zipped format because they can be huge sometimes, while when zipped they occupy only a small fraction (2-3%) of their original size. As for the midis, some editors prefer to upload a bunch of them in a single zip file; I guess we should generally respect the editor's choice. The presence of zipped files have been usually indicated in the "Editor notes" section, but I like your suggestion of customized icons for these cases. —Carlos Email.gif 10:18, 24 November 2010 (UTC)
Thanks for the explanation; makes sense. Would love to see a special icon. -- Vaarky 22:22, 24 November 2010 (UTC)
