Over the waters at sunset hour
My boat doth swiftly glide.
Clearly I hear from yon distant tower
The bells of eventide.

Softly, softly stealing
On the silent air,
Sweetly, sweetly pealing
Music everywhere.
Peal on! peal on!
Sweet bells od eventide.
Peal on! peal on!
Sweet bells of eventide.

Scarcely a ripple upon the lake
Where rests the sunset glow.
Sweet are the echoes the bells awake
From out the belfry low.

Slowly the shadows are creeping near
As home my boat I guide;
Over the waters I still can hear
