1. I hear of a city, a heavenly home,
Where sorrows and dangers and strife never come,
Where the walls are of jasper, and streets paved with gold,
That city is heaven, the home of the soul.

Chorus
The home of the soul, The home of the soul,
That city is heaven,
The home of the soul.

2. There prisoners and bond-men forever are free,
A final eternal and real jubilee,
The light of the city is the Lamb, we are told;
That city is heaven, the home of the soul.

3. No sickness is there, and the saints never die,
They are happy forever in the city on high;
Through ages eternal they never grow old,
That city is heaven, the home of the soul.

4. The saints up in heaven, they weep not or sigh,
Or say to their loved ones the mournful goodbye;
But happy forever in the city of gold,
That city is heaven, the home of the soul.

5. No sin is in heaven, no uncleanness there,
For Satan can’t enter that city so fair;
The King in his beauty the saints shall behold,
In the city of heaven, the home of the soul.
