The King of the ages comes to earth
O herald afar the wondrous birth
Messiah and Lord through years foretold
The ancient of days shall ye behold.

O starry host that gleams on high
Shine down, shine down from midnight sky.
Ye shine o'er palace hall so fair
Yet the King of the ages is not there.

Upon the temple courts the light is falling
Where incense breathes its fragrance as a prayer.
'Tis silent save for breeze of night soft calling
The King of all the ages is not there.

Ye stars let fairest light be shed
Upon a manger bed
A Babe finds rest 'mid shadows dim
Ye starry host shine down on Him.

Now s your silv'ry splendors fling
Ye crown the brow of Heaven's King
Shine }down o'er shepherd and wond'ring seer,
For the King of the ages is here!

Glory be to God on high!
