Original text and translations
English text
1. There is a wisdom that betrays the soul,
a thousand truths, a few decisive lies
dressed in the finery of righteousness
the settled tenets pupils memorize.
2. There is a wisdom that awakes the soul,
a rising path that shimmers with surprise.
God gives us eyes as wide as children's are
so we can take the way that makes us wise.
