Italian text Tirsi vicino a morte, languendo si giacea, e di Filli e d'amor e di sua sorte piangendo si dolea, quando l'alma sua Dea ai lamenti qui tratta e fatta pia, gli disse: Ben mio, perché tu non muoia prendi la vita mia. Onde ei colmo di gioia, La ninfa dolcemento accolse e strinse, E'n lei vita prendendo il duol estinse.

English translation Thyrsis, close to death, lies languishing, and of Phyllis, and of love, and of his fate, he grieves, weeping, when at his laments his soul, his goddess, intervenes and makes pious, saying to him: my love, so that you not die, take my life. Whereby he, full of joy, sweetly received and embraced the nymph, And in taking her life, his grief was extinguished.   Translation by Allen Garvin
