Welcome

Hi Oliver, here's a very belated welcome to CPDL! Thanks for all your contributions so far, including your most recent one: setting a composer page for William Sewell. Are you planning to upload something by him? Kind regards, —Carlos (talk) Email.gif 01:18, 19 October 2015 (UTC)

Capitalisation on Works pages

Thanks for all the works you've been added recently, Oliver. It's good to have some composers who are still alive on the site!

A small point about titling. Because of the way the site works, capital letters are sorted differently from lower case ones. (The same is true of punctuation). That means that, in a sorted list, two items which have an identical title may end up separated simply because of different capitalisation. The guidance on titles for works is to capitalise the first letters of: the title, of proper names and of names or attributes of God. There are still some grey areas left. Does one capitalise He when it refers to God? Is it Virgo Maria, or virgo Maria? Should Sabbatum be capitalised, just because Sunday would be? However, 90% of cases will be sorted by following the guidance above.

It doesn't matter much if you forget, since one of the editors will notice and do it for you.

One another point, you may have noticed that we have been making significant changes to the composer pages over the last few weeks. The aim has been to automate, as far as possible, the process of adding new works to the site. We've also removed the file links from composer pages since we have found that, when people uploaded revised files, they often forgot to update the links to the composer page. I'd be interested to have any feedback from you, whether negative or positive.Jamesgibb (talk) 07:32, 28 April 2016 (UTC)
