Vox in Rama audita est,
ploratus et ululatus:
Rachel plorans filios suos,
noluit consolari,
quia non sunt.

English translation

A voice was heard in Rama,
of weeping and lamentation;
Rachel, weeping for her children,
will not be comforted,
because they are no more.
