Editorial notes for ed. Kouhia (2025)

The edition is based on Sekaäänisiä lauluja, booklet 24, Kansanvalistusseura, Helsinki 1921, (2nd ed., original: 1910) by printed name Kevätlaulu.

P. J. Hannikainen also has another song called Kevätlaulu ("Terve, Pohjolan maa..."), and this song is typically called Kevätsointuja.

Edition notes:

  • Modern beaming is employed
  • Used dashed slurs where third verse requires.
  • Bar 3, tenor/bass: beat 4, in original, bass has the natural accidental (B: f!, T: as), interpreted as misprint. Corrected as tenor having the natural here (B: f, T: a), thus the chord and the flat sign for tenor in following bar makes sense.
  • Bar 4: in the original, bass has "mf" on bar 5 beat 3. Interpreted this as a misprint, thus aligned "mf" with upper staff, at bar 4 beat 4.
  • Bar 7 verse 2 lyrics: "onnen" in original replaced with "onnea", thus agrees with another reprint in "Sekakuorolauluhelmiä I" and the text syllables.
  • Bar 9, alto: fourth beat, in original: crochet. Interpreted as misprint, replaced with with two quavers.
