Biography Philippe became Chancellor of Notre-Dame de Paris in 1217. In addition to his fame as a theologian, he was renowned for his poems, all but one in Latin and nearly all with surviving music. Many are contrafacta of Trouvere and Troubador songs: Quisquis cordis et oculi for example is to the tune of Bernart's Can vei la lauzeta. It is unclear whether he may have been the composer of the remainder.
