==General information==
[[William Marsh]]'s ''A Set of New PSALM & HYMN TUNES Composed in a Familiar Style'' was published in 1816 (the preface is dated, as noted below). The title page describes the composer as 'William Marsh, {{w|Canterbury}}', and states that the book was published in London, being 'Printed & Sold for the Author by James Peck 47, Lombard St. Sold by the Author Palace St. Canterbury.'

The preface to the collection states:

'The Author of this Work begs permission to acknowledge the obligation he is under to Mr [[Thomas Clark|THOMAS CLARK]] of Canterbury (Whose Compositions are so highly distinguished by Public Approbation) for his kind assistance in correcting the HARMONY for Public inspection.

The collection consists of 25 hymn tunes: all have texts underlaid, and in many cases alternative texts are also suggested (often from the Old Version or New Version metrical psalms).
