1. We are the sons and the daughters
Of Sarah and Abraham, | |||
Journeying onward as they did,
In search of the promised land.
We are the children of promise,
As countless as grains of sand,
But aliens here and strangers,
In search of the promised land.
2. We have been given a vision,
Of justice for strong and weak,
No more oppression and violence,
And this is the land we seek.
Call us on pilgrimage, seeking
With all who have gone before
Justice for all of God's children,
And the end of greed and war.
3. Merciful God, you have called us
To go from our settled ways,
With our dreams of peace and safety,
And to offer you our praise,
Asking no freedom from danger,
No privileges others lack;
Only your presence among us
To keep us from turning back.
4. Grant we may enter the country
That is coming into view
Where all our warfare is ended
And everything is made new,
That we may share with the prophets
And sages, greatest and least,
And with Abraham and Sarah,
A place at the Lamb's high feast.

English text
1. We are the sons and the daughters
Of Sarah and Abraham,
Journeying onward as they did,
In search of the promised land.
We are the children of promise,
As countless as grains of sand,
But aliens here and strangers,
In search of the promised land.
2. We have been given a vision,
Of justice for strong and weak,
No more oppression and violence,
And this is the land we seek.
Call us on pilgrimage, seeking
With all who have gone before
Justice for all of God's children,
And the end of greed and war.
3. Merciful God, you have called us
To go from our settled ways,
With our dreams of peace and safety,
And to offer you our praise,
Asking no freedom from danger,
No privileges others lack;
Only your presence among us
To keep us from turning back.
4. Grant we may enter the country
That is coming into view
Where all our warfare is ended
And everything is made new,
That we may share with the prophets
And sages, greatest and least,
And with Abraham and Sarah,
A place at the Lamb's high feast.
