Ave Jesu Christe, verbum Patris,
Filius Virginis, mundi salus,
hostia sacra, verbum caro,
fons pietatis, fons pietatis.

Ave Jesu, lumen caeli,
praetium mundi, gaudium nostrum, panis Angelorum.

Te rogamus ut sicut hic te videmus praesentem in aliena forma,
sic te mereamur videre in majestatis tuae gloria.

English.png English translation

Hail, Jesus Christ word of the Father, son of the virgin,
health of the world, sacred victim, the word incarnate, fount of love.

Hail Jesus, light of heaven, jewel of the world, our joy, bread of angels.

We ask Thee that, just as here we see Thee present in strange [lit. foreign] form,
so we may be worthy to see Thee in the glory of thy Majesty.
