General Information

Title: Ave Maria
Composer: Maggie Furtak
Lyricist:

Number of voices: 4vv   Voicing: SATB

Genre: SacredAnthem

Language: Latin
Instruments: A cappella

Published: 2014

Description: I posted this in the SATB section, but there are a few notes of divisi here and there. If your group is particularly small, you can leave out the doubled notes, or throw an alto on the 1st tenor note where it divides. Moderately difficult, only because of some polyphonic sections, but most intervals are small and easy. Lots of stepwise motion. Easy rhythms. Range is very comfortable in all parts. I always love feedback, so if you try this piece, let me know how you liked it. In particular, I'd like to know anything that could have been more clearly marked or that seemed needlessly difficult. Ave Maria, gratia plena, Dominus tecum.
Benedicta tu in mulieribus,
et benedictus fructus ventris tui, Iesus.
Sancta Maria, Mater Dei,
ora pro nobis peccatoribus,
nunc et in hora mortis nostrae. Amen.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee.
Blessed art thou among women,
and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God,
pray for us sinners,
now and in the hour of our death. Amen.
