Latin text 28b Ave Maria, gratia plena, Dominus tecum; 29b Quae est ista salutatio, 30b Ne timeas Maria, invenisti [enim] gratiam apud Deum, 31a Ecce concipies [in utero] et paries Filium Dei. 34b Quomodo fiet istud? Quoniam virum non conosco, 35b Spiritus sanctus superveniet in te, et virtus Altissimi obumbrabit tibi. 38b Ecce ancilla Domini: fiat mihi secundum verbum tuum. |
English translation 28b Hail, thou that art highly favoured, the Lord is with thee. 29b What manner of salutation is this? 30b Fear not, Mary: for thou hast found favour with God. 31a And, behold, thou shalt conceive [in thy womb], and bring forth the Son of God. 34b How shall this be, seeing I know not a man? 35b The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee. 38b Behold the handmaid of the Lord; be it unto me according to thy word. |
