Title: LIBER QUINTUS CAN- / TIONUM SACRARUM VULGO / MOTETA VOCANT, QUINQUE ET SEX VOCUM A D. / Magistro Petro Manchicurtio Betunio insignis ecclesie Thornacensis Pho- / nasco nunc primum in lucem editus.

Publication date and place: 1554 by Pierre Phalèse, Louvain (Leuven) [RISM A/I M272]. Reprinted in 1558 [M273] and 1560 [M274].
Description: A printed set of partbooks containing 14 bi-partite motets by Pierre de Manchicourt for 5–6vv, published during the composer’s tenure as ‘master of the choirboys’ (‘phonasco’) at the cathedral in Tournai (‘Thornacensis’). This is Phalèse’s only book of motets dedicated to the works of a single composer. It is the earliest surviving source of all 14 motets, and the only known source of eight of them: those that appear in later printed sources are marked (°) below, and those that appear later handcopied sources are marked (^).
