English text
He's come! let every knee be bent,
All hearts new joy resume;
Sing, ye redeemed, with on consent,
"The Comforter is come."
What greater gift, what greater love,
Could God on man bestow?
Angels for this rejoice above,
Let man rejoice below!
Hail, blessed Spirit! may each soul
Thy sacred influence feel;
Do Thou each sinful thought control,
And fix our wavering zeal!
Thou to the conscience dost convey,
Those checks which we should know;
Thy motions point to us the way;
Thou giv'st us strength to go.
