Life

Born: 1943, Dublin, Ireland

Biography

He studied Piano and Organ, Royal Irish Academy in Dublin; has an abiding interest in choirs, choral singing and choral composition, going back to the late 1960s, and has sung with both small groups and large choral societies in Ireland. Apart from being a chorister, he was a choirmaster in Ireland over many years.

At present he is Chef de Choeur (Choirmaster) of the Choeur d'Alzonne (a small town near Carcassonne, in southern France). This is a group of about 30 singers, mainly French, with an admixture of some anglophone members too.

Formative choral influences were undoubtedly Kodaly and Stanford, although his experience of the choral repertoire over the years has grown to be fairly extensive - from Machaut to Machuel.
