Dicunt infantes Domino laudes,
trucidati ab Herode, occisi praedicant,
quod vivi non poterant;
licuit sanguine loqui,
quibus lingua non licuit;
miscent cum Domino colloquia,
quibus humana negata sunt verba.

German.png German translation

Die Kleinkinder sagen dem Herrn Lob,
hingemetzelt von Herodes, erschlagen verkündigen sie,
was sie lebend nicht konnten;
es war [denen] vergönnt, mit dem Blut zu sprechen,
denen mit der Zunge [zu sprechen] nicht vergönnt war;
die vereinigen ihre Gespräche mit dem Herrn,
denen menschliche Worte verwehrt waren.

The infants proclaim their praises to the Lord,
though slaughtered by Herod; in death they speak
what in life they could not;
their blood is allowed to speak
what their tongue could not;
they are joined with the Lord in conversation,
who had not yet the power of human speech.
