Life
Born: 29 June 1854
Died: 27 October 1930
Biography
Composer, conducter, teacher. Born in Pencader, Carmarthenshire, South Wales. Emigrated with his parents to Utah, USA in 1866. Studied breifly at the New England Conservatory in Boston. Directed the Mormon Tabernacle Choir from 1890 to 1916. Wrote hymns, anthems, children's songs, and a sacred cantata "The Vision". Also edited numerous hymnals and songbooks.
