Biography

George Coombes (or Combes) was Organist of Wimborne Minster from 1743 or 1744 until he resigned in 1765. He was appointed Organist of Bristol Cathedral in 1756, but seems not to have left Wimborne until 1765. The Bristol records suggest that Combes was replaced between 1759 and 1765 by Edward Higgins, returning there in 1765 where he died four years later.
