General Information
Title: Hortus conclusus
Composer: Rodrigo de Ceballos
Lyricist:
Number of voices: 4vv Voicings: SATB or SATT
Genre: Sacred, Motet 'in festo BMV'
Language: Latin
Instruments: A cappella
First published: 1852 Liro Sacro-Hispana, no. 15
Description: A 4 part motet found in Eslava's "Liro Sacro-Hispana". Eslava often "improved" on his sources. This may be an example. He attributes the work to Francisco Ceballos, but Grove attributes it to Rodrigo. Eslava may also have made a mistake in the initial description of the sequence of voices.
