Venetian text Proverbio e fatt’antini nigo Chi non vede Venesia non l’apprene Done se vù volè vegnir con mi e mi con vù Sarà fra vù e fra mi spas’ e piaser che tal Zamai non fù Diseu de no o diseu de sì? O benedeto sì Che solo per un sì Creao xe’l mondo largo, longo, tono nondo Dunque con sto bel sì la finiremo qui.

German translation Es gibt ein altes Sprichwort: Wer Venedig nicht sieht, kennt es auch nicht. Meine Dame, wenn Ihr mit mir kommen wollt und ich mit Euch, wird zwischen und Freude und Vergnügen sein, wie es noch nie gewesen ist - Sagt Ihr nein oder Ja? O gesegnetes Ja, denn nur mit einem Ja ist die Welt als weites und breites Rund geschaffen worden. Daher werden wir mit diesem schönen Ja dort hingelangen. Translation by Peter Rottländer
