In illo tempore stabant autem juxta crucem Jesu
mater ejus, et soror matris ejus, Maria Cleophae
et Maria Magdalene. Cum vidisset ergo Jesus matrem
et discipulum stantem quem diligebat, dicit matri suae:
Mulier, ecce filius tuus. Deinde dicit discipulo:
Ecce mater tua. Et ex illa hora accepit discipulus eam in suam.

Abban az időben ott állt Jézus keresztje mellett anyja,
anyjának nővére, Mária, Kleofás felesége és Mária Magdolna.
Amikor Jézus meglátta anyját és az ott álló tanítványt,
akit szeretett, így szólt anyjához: Asszony, íme a te fiad.
Azután azt mondta a tanítványnak: Íme, a te anyád.
És attól az órától magához vette őt a tanítvány.
