Latin text 3  In illo tempore accesserunt ad Jesum pharisaei temptantes eum et dicentes: si licet homini dimittere uxorem suam quacumque ex causa. 4  Qui respondens ait eis: Non legistis, quia qui fecit hominem ab initio, masculum et feminam fecit eos, 5  et dixit: Propter hoc dimittet homo patrem et matrem et adhaerebit uxori suae, et erunt duo in carne una. 6  Itaque jam non sunt duo, sed una caro. Quod ergo Deus conjunxit, homo non separet.

Hungarian translation Abban az időben odamentek hozzá a farizeusok, s hogy próbára tegyék, megkérdezték tőle: El szabad-e az embernek bocsátania a feleségét bármi okból? Ő ezt felelte: Nem olvastátok, hogy Aki kezdettől fogva teremtette az embert, férfinak és nőnek alkotta őket? És így szólt: Ezért az ember elhagyja apját és anyját, a feleségéhez ragaszkodik, és a kettő egy testté lesz. Így már nem ketten vannak, hanem egy test. Amit tehát Isten egybekötött, azt ember szét ne válassza.

English translation 3  The Pharisees also came unto him, tempting him, and saying unto him, Is it lawful for a man to put away his wife for every cause? 4  And he answered and said unto them, Have ye not read, that he which made them at the beginning made them male and female, 5  And said, For this cause shall a man leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife: and they twain shall be one flesh? 6  Wherefore they are no more twain, but one flesh. What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder.
