General Information
Title: Libera nos
Composer: Thomas Tallis
Lyricist:
Number of voices: 5vv Voicing: SATTB
Genre: Sacred, Antiphon
Language: Latin
Instruments: A cappella
First published:
Description: A five-part setting around a plainsong cantus firmus 'Libera nos, salva nos'. The original lacks underlay and may or may not have been conceived for voices. However, the text fits comfortably enough and the source in which the piece survives includes other textless pieces that are known to have had a choral origin. The attribution to Tallis is questionable.
