Edition notes: The chanted antiphon precedes and follows the Magnificat. The Magnificat verses alternate beween chant and homophony, the former being sung on the odd verses and the latter on the even verses.

Description: The Magnificat is the culmination of the liturgical office of Vespers, and in the Roman rites is always preceded and followed by the antiphon proper to that day or season. The antiphon used here is for the Saturday before the 3rd Sunday of Lent, and is taken from the Monastic Office. Though they are uncommon, any Mode 3 Magnificat antiphon could be substituted.
