Sovra in fiorito e ameno
Colle di rose e mirti e allori pieno,
Vaghe ninfe e pastori,
Cantando ogn'un, viva la bella Dori.

English.png English translation

In the season that the zephyr returns
and adorns the slopes with beautiful blossoms,
the warbling little bird
renders with his song his highest delight
upon a flowery and pleasant
hill replete with roses and myrtle and laurel.
I saw the great wild god
with his reed-pipe, in the shade
of a beechwood tree sweetly playing;
and saw graceful nymphs and shepherds
dancing at this sweet sound with satyrs and fauns.
Each was singing: “Long live fair Dori!”.
