Notker Balbulus

Aliases: Notker the Stammerer, believed to be the Monk of St. Gall who wrote De Carolo Magno, a life of Charlemagne.

Died: 6 April 912

Biography . Notker's Liber hymnorum, created between 881 and 887, is an early collection of Sequences, a genre he is traditionally credited with inventing. The hymn Media vita was erroneously attributed to him late in the Middle Ages. He was beatified in 1512.
