Description: O Nata Lux de Lumine is an anonymous text for the celebration of the Lauds at the Feast of the Transfiguration (August 6). The lauds (laudes) form the morning prayer of the Holy Office or Liturgy of the Hours. The word lauden is a Dutchification of the Latin laudes, the plural of laus which means praise or praise.

I wrote O Nata Lux out of admiration for Morten Lauridsen's version, where it forms the middle part of the 5-part cycle for choir and orchestra Lux Aeterna. This part is also regularly performed a cappella.

As a tribute to Lauridsen, I have taken the liberty of using the opening as well as the final chord from him. In between, however, it's entirely my work!
