{{Text|Latin}}

O Sacramentum pietatis! o signum unitatis! o vinculum caritatis!

{{Translation|English}}

O sacrament of piety! O sign of unity! O bond of charity! He who wishes to live has a place to live, has whence to live. Let him come close, let him believe; let him be embodied, that he may be revived in life. Let him not shrink from the compact of members; let him not be a rotten member that deserves to be cut away; let him not be a deformed member of which to be ashamed; let him be a fair, fit, and sound member; let him cleave to the body, live for God by God: now let him labour on earth, so that in the future he may reign in heaven.

  • (Posted 2009-01-04)  CPDL #13347:        (Sibelius 2)
Editor: Jonathan Goodliffe (submitted 2009-01-04).   Score information: A4, 14 pages, 111 kB   Copyright: CPDL
Edition notes: The value of notes in bars 1 to 56 and 67 to 113 has been halved to reproduce the beaming of the void crotchets (quarter notes) in the original score. Irregular bar lengths within those sections of the work have been replaced by a regular time signature. In the middle section (starting "Non abhoreat") the length of the bars has been halved. The result is something a little closer to a performing edition than the original transcription.
