German text
Orpheus die Harfen schlug so fein
und lieblich zugleich sang mit ein,
dass Wald und Baum, Vögel und Tier,
gebierten, als tanzten sie schier.
English translation
Orpheus played his lyre so well
and lovely sang in tune
that forest and trees, birds and animals
moved as though they were dancing indeed.
