Se m'uccidi crudele,
perch'io ti son fedele,
e se resti contenta
d'haver quest' alma spenta,
di che poi ti dorrai,
crudel s'alcun dolor dicio non hai.

La legge vol sia ucciso
chi del spirto diviso,
altrui hà fatto in terra,
con cos'ingiusta guerra,
e tu crudel consenti
d'uccider' un che t'ama e non ti penti.

Fra ogni virtu la fede,
per fiata esser si vede,
e al nemico e a l'amante,
giusto è l'esser costante,
tu'in che stima sarai,
s'il mancar di tua fè si leggier fai.

S'io ti seguo, mi fuggi,
se t'amo, mi distruggi,
ma s'è giusto che mora
chi t'ama e chi t'adora,
credi giamai non fia
ch'a veder tardi la vendetta mia.
